This site provides information about 20 years of volunteering at various warehouses in Chelmsford, processing gift filled shoeboxes on behalf of "Operation Christmas Child".
People who volunteered were individuals, corporate teams and other groups - all wanting to help make a difference to the lives of thousands of needy children in Eastern Europe and beyond.
Between 1997 and 2016, the teams exported over 850,000 gift filled shoeboxes
From 1997 to 2005 the Chelmsford Team processed and exported boxes delivered to us from across East Anglia. From 2006, new exporting teams were established throughout the region (hence the dip in figures)
Empty warehouses became increasingly hard to locate and costly to rent so the charity "Operation Christmas Child" switched to using it's own centralised warehouse.
In 2018, the Chelmsford Core Team made a decision to switch to supporting teams4u - a charity run by Dave Cooke who had the origional shoebox idea.
Run by Dave Cooke who manages Shoebox Distrubutions and other humanitarian projects.
The Chelmsford Core team are now collecting shoeboxes for teams4u
